The World's Worst Workout

Crossfit should be banned. It's a drug, it's a form of self-torture, it's a damn curse on my body's weakest parts. I tried to do this today:
21-18-15-12-9-6-3 rep rounds of:
Handstand push-ups
L-pull-ups

Sounds simple, eh? That's only about 84 pullups and pushups. Oh, wait, that's L-sit pullups and HANDSTAND pushups... I cheated so hard on this workout. I piled stuff on the floor so I didn't have to go as deep on the handstand pushups. My elbow's still a bit sore so I did some other lat stuff, the cheating just went on and on... And it was still all I could do to "finish" it. Yeah, I know I could have scaled it etc., but I didn't. Damn. If you think you're fit have a go at this workout. Oh, and it's for time, meaning you go as hard as you can, not pretty little sets where do a set and then pose. Give 'er.

  1. X-fit is the only thing that really works to get me into good shape - BUT I get injured from it. I don't think it's the intensity. I think it's the competition. I go just beyond where I should. I stop paying attention to my body.

  2. Hahaha, I almost peed myself reading that. Awesome! Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as Kim... I find it too difficult not to push myself past my limits (namely lower back). that being said, it really does let me know what I have to work on (ie: flexibility). I love the workouts and the competitiveness, but it's more of a 2 month on 2 month off type of sport.

I have to add that on my two months doing other things, I'm usually dreaming up a new workout to test myself and my friends with. It's a terrible addiction.

  3. I'm psyched to be heading back to Crossfit in Las Vegas tomorrow. After a broken arm bouldering and a few other detours, I'm ready for my "300" body back.

  5. Damn you, Crossfit. DAMN YOU!

The only sport/activity that has ever caused me injury, Crossfit is like an abusive spouse: the more it hurts me, the more I cling onto it, blaming myself for the injuries ("oh, it must be my form," or "oh, I probably wasn't zoning")....

I long for the innocence of working out without a clock.

  6. This post was linked up all over the place, thanks for that.

Kim, Andy, Rob, YES! Crossfit is worse than Yoga for men of motivation... I'm still learning to tone it down...

Ralph: Massage (ART), ice and eccentric contractions=survivable elbows... good luck.

Katie: The cat looks happy in Turkey, cool.
